Croeso mawr – a very warm welcome to you.
If you have arrived here quite by chance then you may be wondering about the title – Glas Y Dorlan. In English this can be roughly translated as Kingfisher.
I live in a region of Ceredigion that is in the very heartland of Wales and is situated close to the source of the Teifi River, high up in the Cambrian Mountains. This area is still rich in the living culture of the Welsh and it is an area of quiet, under-stated beauty and remains, even now, a largely undiscovered gem. This blog is a collection of random jottings about some of the things I do and see nearly every day. It has no particular structure but flits to and fro’ like a social butterfly and I hope you may find something of interest within. In fact, the blog meanders quite aimlessly and is often a reflection of the unhurried course of the river itself.
And if you are very lucky, as you wander by the river in the dawn of a new day, you may be blessed with a glimpse of iridescent green and blue flashing over the sparkling water – Glas Y Dorlan.
